Pukka's Threes range: powerful blends show that three isn't always a crowd

I love the idea of 1+1=3. Or that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Which is why I decided to mix three parts of three species from three different places - or a variation on any of the above - to make our Threes Teas range.

The turmeric, ginger and galangal in our Three Ginger Tea are harvested from a certified organic project in the Western Ghats of India. In a cup of Three Mint Tea, you’ll be enjoying the efforts of fieldmint farmers in Northern India and spearmint and peppermint growers in Egypt. Our new Three Chamomile tea is a blend of three types of the best organic Egyptian, Croation and Hungarian chamomile flowers. And Three Licorice, another new addition to our Threes range, is a tingling fusion of nature's sweetest herbal treasure unearthed from the wilds of Khazakstan, Pakistan and Egypt's organic soils.

Why such a diverse range of locations? Because each of the herbs that we use in our Threes range needs specific growing techniques and climactic requirements, which is why we work with growers from across the globe. Each location brings out a different taste and textual quality to the tea. You get more gingery-ness from ginger, galangal and turmeric, just as you get more minty-ness from peppermint, spearmint and fieldmint.

But it’s not just the stronger taste, there’s something about the essence of plants from the same botanical family that makes the herbal tea blend more whole and powerful.

As Andy Warhol said, ‘three’s a party’.

Hello There. I’m a Co-founder and the Master Herbsmith at Pukka Herbs. As well as having the most amazing job of formulating all our organic teas and supplements I am a passionate environmentalist – that’s why we are 100% organic, pioneers in sustainably sourcing herbs with FairWild, and we give 1% of our turnover for rejuvenating the Planet. I also run my own herbal practice in Bath which I’ve done since 1998. I practise an eclectic blend of Ayurvedic, Chinese and Western Herbal Medicine and am a registered member of the Ayurvedic Practitioners Association, Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine and the Unified Register of Herbal Practitioners. I love using the principles of Ayurveda (aka the ancient art of living wisely) – coupled with insights of traditional healing and modern science - to help create the best of health. Inspired by my time in India, I love cooking a vegetarian feast and rely on regular yoga practice with lots of herbal teas and tonics to keep me well. I am passionate about running a business that inspires positive change and brings the benefit of the incredible power of plants to everyone we connect with – from our farmers, collectors, Pukka team to you. I live on a two acre garden-farm in Somerset where I grow a rainbow spectrum of medicinal and nourishing plants for my bees and family to thrive on.
