Purchasing Assistant

Are you looking for a role that supports the sustainable sourcing, procurement and freight of herbal raw materials and packaging used within a purposeful, sustainable, fast-paced and growing ethical business? Do you aspire to gain strong commercial awareness within the food industry?

Based in our award-winning Bristol head office, we’re looking for a Purchasing Assistant to join our Procurement team. The role is full-time and comes with a competitive salary of up to £25,000 per annum alongside a benefits package designed to nurture your wellbeing and personal development.

About the opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join the team and support the sourcing, procurement and logistics of components used within Pukka’s portfolio. As our Purchasing Assistant you’ll work closely with current suppliers, as well as being involved in the sourcing and approval of new ones and will work with Pukka colleagues across the supply chain making sure they are kept informed on any changes in timelines or volumes of materials.

Day-to-day you’ll be covering a variety of activities including liaising with international suppliers and freight forwarders to arrange deliveries and collections of stock, as well as submitting pre-shipment samples to our Quality Control team for testing and approval. You’ll be responsible for the accurate and timely upkeep of internal systems, progressing purchase orders and from placement to receipt, and ensuring continuity of supply and achievement of key business targets through regular monitoring and reporting.

A good communicator, you will be able to build and maintain strong working relationships with both internal colleagues and all external partners and stakeholders. Commercially aware you’ll ideally have the ability to influence and negotiate, research and build a network. You’ll have excellent attention to detail and a highly numerate and analytical approach to your work, and be organised and able to prioritise effectively.

You’ll thrive at pace, demonstrate resilience when dealing with ambiguity, and turn challenge and obstacles into decisive and purposeful action. You’ll be someone who seizes opportunities to benefit the wider business and be passionate about contributing to a purpose-led mission – everything you do is designed to inspire people to nurture healthier, happier lives through powerful organic plants.
