Are you an experienced analyst who is passionate about using finance to shape commercial decision making? Do you aspire to be part of a purposeful, sustainable and growing ethical brand and want to use your expertise to help Pukka deliver our mission? Based in our award-winning Bristol head office, and reporting to our Head of Commercial Finance, this exciting permanent, full-time role comes with a salary of up to £40k per annum depending on experience, alongside a benefits package designed to nurture your wellbeing and personal development.
Our Commercial Finance team business partner the rest of the organisation, helping deliver financial insights to shape and transform the way we do things at Pukka. In this role of Commercial Finance Analyst you’ll get great exposure to the key drivers of our P&L: monitoring, scrutinising and explaining the drivers of our performance. You’ll provide systematic and ad-hoc analysis, preparing annual budgets, monthly forecasts and helping to shape our long-term strategic plan.
You will lead our pricing analysis and authorisations, review the effectiveness of our promotional campaigns on a quarterly basis, monitor our sales accruals on the balance sheet, scrutinise the risk and opportunities to our forecasts and play a key role in our new product development activities facilitating our journey to becoming a cross category force for good.
You’ll manage our stock reporting, transfer pricing and standard cost processes and will work with our systems analyst to design and report our data across our self-service PowerBI tools. Leading our gross margin action group, you’ll focus forensically on how we spend our money and where it will make the most impact on our economic, societal, and environmental goals. You will have month end activities including journals prep based upon analytical review, gathering supporting documentation for month end and will have ownership of a range of our internal controls.
To be our Commercial Finance Analyst, you’ll have a solid demonstrable financial background and a love for adding value in the work that you do. You’ll have gained experience in a similar role in a fast-paced business where you’ve liaised face to face with internal or external stakeholders and built strong relationships with your excellent communication skills. Your finance experience will ideally include numerous examples where your analysis has created value in your previous roles, budgeting, planning, forecasting and management reporting (including variance analysis) and experience in month end close process.
Brilliant at Excel and interested in developing this skill set into the suite of PowerBI tools, you’ll be someone who enjoys getting hands on with data and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement including simplification and standardisation. You’ll have experience of using finance ERP systems, ideally IFS or similar. Experience of SQL is an advantage but not essential.
A self-starter with a high sense of ownership, you’ll have a high attention to detail and be conscientious in seeing a project through to completion. You’ll thrive at pace and be skilled at turning challenge and obstacles into decisive and purposeful action. Resilient and unflappable in the face of making tough priority decisions, you’ll be a great team player with a flexible and adaptable approach. You’ll be someone who seizes opportunities to benefit the wider business and communications goals and be passionate about contributing to our purpose-led mission – to nurture healthier, happier lived through powerful organic plants.
