Mint Matcha Green

Could this be your ticket through today? First, the perkiest fairly-traded Egyptian spearmint, as fresh as the wind whistling through your hair. Then, a surge of smooth Sencha green whole leaf, as invigorating as a morning mountain walk. All this coolness lifted by incredible organic pure green matcha powder. Cool, crisp, alive.

Pukka’s matcha is grown on an organic farm on a beautiful volcanic island off the coast of South Korea. The island is called Jeju Do, thus the Korean name for our matcha, Jejo do Garucha, which literally translates as ‘Jeju Island Powder Tea’.

Frequently asked questions

  • What is ‘Whole Leaf’ Tea?

The black and green tea range use only ‘Whole Leaf’ tea leaves. This means we only use whole leaves that are chopped just before packing to facilitate production into teabags and to maintain their special flavour.

  • What quality grade of Matcha powder do you use?

Our matcha powder is one of the best quality matchas you can get. The basis of matcha powder is the top buds of shaded spring teas. For these 'Kabuse Cha' teas, the bushes are shaded with dark meshes for a couple of days before harvesting. This increases the amount of amino acids and makes the tea sweeter. After harvest, the leaves are processed to steamed green tea, then the leaves are ground in stone mills. A very important factor is the temperature, so the milling is extremely slow in order to avoid high temperatures that can destroy the quality. Matcha should be stored in the cool and dark, otherwise it will lose flavour as well as colour. And, of course, it’s organic. • Why is there 2% matcha powder in the Pukka matcha green tea range?

Matcha is naturally bitter in flavour and 2% matcha provides just the right balance of taste for our matcha green teas. Pukka matcha is 100% organic, pure and powerful; 2% provides just the right balance with our whole leaf green teas for a delicious taste and embalming you with its zen-like qualities.
