Sustainability at Pukka - Being the Change we need to see in the world

When our Founders Tim and Sebastian first met they quickly discovered a shared passion for finding a better way of doing business. Pukka’s essence has always been to serve people and planet; all of our teas and herbal solutions are certified organic, and over the last 15 years we have been continuously looking for ways to improve our sustainability performance.
With 2016 the hottest year on record, and 21% of plant species threatened with extinction there has never been a more urgent time for every person, organisation and government to take action to protect the future of our planet.
So this year we celebrate becoming a certified B Corp, joining over 2000 other companies who also share a vision of better business. Together we are a powerful lobby for positive change – with combined revenues of a mid-sized country (over $3.4bn)!
We hope that by sharing the way we do business in our report others will be inspired to take action.
Not least our wonderful Pukka people. Becoming a certified B Corp seals our commitment to, as peace activist Gandhi once said, “be the change we want to see in the world”. Inspired by this we’ve launched a staff campaign for 2017 with Do Nation to save 500,000 cups of tea worth of carbon over the year by making small, sustainable changes to our daily lives. In the report we outline this and other goals for 2017 – including:
- Developing our ‘Net Positive’ strategy (a way of doing business which puts back more into society, the environment and the global economy than it takes out)
- Setting science based carbon reduction targets as part of our long term commitment to be carbon neutral from crop to cup by 2030
