Acerola Berry Malpighia glabra
Acerola berries are harvested from small tropical trees, commonly known as Barbados Cherry trees with beautiful pink and white flowers. They are native to Southern and Central America and also Southern Mexico. The berries are usually harvested after three years and have a characteristically sour and bitter taste. On harvesting the berries are green, but once ripened they become a vibrant red.
Acerola berries are naturally high in herbal vitamin C and the necessary co-factors that help with vitamin C absorption.
Traditionally, the fruits have been made into Jellies, Jams and Syrups.
