About Pukka Herbs

Launched in 2001, Pukka Herbs is an organic herbal expert dedicated to helping people lead a healthy, balanced life, based on the principles of Ayurveda. Our organic Ayurvedic teas and remedies are effective natural healthcare solutions.  We know the exact field that every herb comes from and have pioneered a much fairer way of doing business with our growers in India and Sri Lanka.

Pukka Herbs has a range of 10 herbal organic teas which have been specially blended by the company’s co-founder and Ayurvedic practitioner, Sebastian Pole.

The Pukka Herbs team visits many of the farming projects it works with every year. The farming projects we buy from have been certified organic and all products are certified by the Soil Association.

Organic growing methods have helped revitalise the farmers’ traditional growing methods. The benefits have included a better crop diversity, improving their environment and an ability to earn more money.

Pukka Herbs is part of a new business movement that is not just all about profit. We know our customers are reassured that the proceeds of what they buy flow back to the farmers. For some of the less-advantaged farming families we’ve met, it has meant they can install electricity and send their kids to school. In fact, one community even built their own school.

About Ayurveda

Ayurveda means ‘the science of life’ or ‘way of living wisely’. It is an accessible ancient Indian healthcare philosophy and way of living which is being practised by millions of people around the world.  The 4,000 year old philosophy is based on energetic qualities and elements of life.

To get the most benefit from Ayurveda there are key things you should consider but it is possible to pick and choose as you like. General principles include the importance of eating cooked food, eating to the season and having warm drinks.

The people behind Pukka Herbs

Sebastian Pole trained in Ayurveda in India and runs an herbal practice in Bath.  He and co-founder Tim Westwell have a passion for promoting well-being and are entirely committed to conservation, fair trade and providing 100 per cent organic Ayurvedic remedies.

Sebastian met his business partner after responding to a newspaper advertisement Tim had placed that read “Business Organics – want to grow a business in a healthy, wealthy way?”.

The ad had come about as a result of Tim’s frustration with his career in computer software sales & marketing and a spinal condition which had caused him to reevaluate his lifestyle. Neither had run a business before.

Thank you for sending the coconut oil so promptly. I received it Tuesday and your e-mail was sent today! In this short time I have used the oil on my badly cracked heels and they are very nearly cured! I  would recommend this treatment to anyone who is suffering from this complaint.

Yours sincerely
Valerie J Lynch
