Gymnema is known as 'Gurmar' in Ayurveda and this means 'the sugar destroyer'. If you eat a leaf of the plant you can no longer taste sugar and loose the desire for sweet foods. The black pepper is included because it contains chromium. Chromium is a central part of Glucose Tolerance Factor that works with insulin in assisting cells receive glucose. It is an essential nutrient required for normal carbohydrate and fat metabolism.
